Toothaches can be extremely inconvenient, especially because they make you uncomfortable all day long while you eat, drink, and talk. This leads many people to search for home remedies that relieve a toothache. If you’re one of these people, you have come to the right place. Dr. Paul Greco and our dental team are happy to give you the tips you need to relieve the pain in your tooth.
First, rinse your mouth with warm water. Swish it around for about a minute or so. Second, grab some floss and clean between each crevice of your smile. This could clean away the food that might be causing the ache. Third, reduce any swelling by placing an ice pack outside of the tender area. This can reduce swelling and relieve pain. Fourth, take over-the-counter pain medication if needed. But, whatever you do, do not place the medication directly on the gums near the aching tooth. Doing so can burn the gum tissue and cause harm. Fifth, if your toothache still does not go away after two days of using these tips, call our office and schedule an appointment with your dentist at your earliest convenience. You could be suffering from a more serious dental issue, like tooth decay, that needs to be solved as soon as possible.
